This blog is a way of researching new media cultures and making notes (via posts) on any thoughts I have on the subject.
These are to be read by fellow students and our tutor. So in effect, people who will have done the same reading and research as myself. The blog allows us to remark on eachothers posts and discuss/debate topics raised. This allows us to see eachothers point of views.
Within this blog, I don't really feel part of a global blogging community, as it is really just an MCC micro blogging community.
In terms of posting the closest offline genre I thnk would just be physically making notes and noting thoughts. But by replying to and discussing topics with eachother, is really just conversational and is how if we were in a real life seminar we would respond.

i dont know weather we would respond in seminars, in exactly the same way as we do on blogs, because of times issues and also, we have the chance to think about what we are going to write in these blogs, where as in seminars sometimes things are sometimes said before they are thought about and they may not always be relevant.
I agree with you that it is similar to a real life seminar as you talk on here informally and as a conversation like you would in a seminar room. But i do miss the face-to-face interaction of a seminar and i think with this being so independent there is room for mistakes to happen. Do you agree?
MCC blogging community is a really good way of describing what i was trying to say about us being in a blogging community but not really feeling in a global one!

yeah i agree with lauren that like although it is quite a good, modern way of communicating and learning from eachother etc, there is a lot of room 4 mistakes 2 b made & a lot of chances to fall behind with work.
and yes I agreew tih Luke, i like my little 'mcc micro blogging community' term...i 'coined' it lol!!
so does anyone else feel like that? like although we feel slightly part of a blogging community, it certainly doesn't feel global??
There is lots of useful discussion going on here, which I'm very pleased about. The advantages seem to be that on-line gives you more time to formulate an opinion that you're happy to express, but there are dangers in keeping up with the workload, and the need to keep contributing to feel a similar level of social engagement that you'd get in a real life seminar.
All the best
Emma
i think in the 1st few weeks there was much less interaction than there would be in a real life seminar, but I think as we've got to grips with our own blogs, we've been finding it easier to comment on eachothers and communicate more becuase the increase in discussions the past week or so is noticeable.
